Insulin Resistance Diet

Insulin Resistance Diet

This low-carbohydrate, moderate-protein and
moderate-fat diet is focused on real foods as the solution to Insulin Resistance
Syndrome (IR), sometimes called Metabolic Syndrome or Syndrome X. It is mainly
refined foods, especially sweets, combined with deficient exercise that gets
people into trouble so a program based on whole foods, not more refined food
products, is the best long-term solution in IR, and a host of other health
problems as well. It is also recommended to take a good multiple
vitamin/mineral.

Insulin resistance, also known as metabolic syndrome, is a condition in
which cells in the body become resistant to insulin, a hormone that
helps metabolize glucose, or carbohydrates. It can be caused by genetic
factors, obesity, pregnancy and various illnesses. Medical experts at
the the National Institutes of Health suggest a healthy dietary
lifestyle as a means of preventing or treating symptoms associated with
insulin resistance.

Are Diabetes and Insulin Resistance Reversible? The Facts.

THE MEDICAL PROFESSION WOULD have you believe that diabetes is not
reversible and only controlling your blood sugar with drugs or insulin
will protect you from organ damage and death. But medication and insulin
can actually increase your risk of getting a heart attack or dying.

The diabetes epidemic is accelerating along with the obesity epidemic, and what you are not hearing about is another way to treat it.

5 Steps To Reverse Type 2 Diabetes and Insulin Resistance

BREAKING NEWS! Some newly discovered compounds have just been found
to turn off all of the genes that cause diabetes. Are these compounds
found in a pill bottle? No! Instead, you’ll find them on your dinner
plate — in rye bread and pasta.

As I wrote in another blog about diabetes,
rye contains special phytonutrients that turn off all the genes
responsible for diabetes — in just a few weeks. I explained how to find
out if you are pre-diabetic or diabetic. Half of the 24 million people
with diabetes don’t know they have it and nearly all the 60 million
people with pre-diabetes don’t know they have it.

Food and the Dying Patient - NYTimes.com

Food and the Dying Patient - NYTimes.com

The patient had dementia and could no longer swallow. The intricate
workings of the muscles of her throat were failing, and she was no
longer able to move food or liquids reliably into her stomach. Instead,
they too frequently ended up in her lungs, and she drowned a little more
with every swallow. She was admitted to my intensive care service with
pneumonia from aspirated food that had turned the bottom part of her
left lung into a wet sponge. Her blood oxygen levels had dropped so low
that we had to support her breathing by inserting a tube.

This week, the international yoga community said goodbye to a beloved
teacher, B.K.S. Iyengar, who died at 95. He is credited with bringing yoga to the Western world
and making it accessible to every age and walk of life. To learn more
about what makes Iyengar yoga so special to those who practice it, I
spoke with Carrie Owerko, a teacher at the Iyengar Yoga Institute of Greater New York.
She was also a student of B.K.S. Iyengar, studying with him in India in
February. Here’s an edited version of our conversation.

The effects of breakfast on behavior and academic performance in children and adolescents

Breakfast consumption is associated with positive outcomes for diet
quality, micronutrient intake, weight status and lifestyle factors.
Breakfast has been suggested to positively affect learning in children
in terms of behavior, cognitive, and school performance. However, these
assertions are largely based on evidence which demonstrates acute
effects of breakfast on cognitive performance.

Is Breakfast Overrated? - NYTimes.com

For years, we’ve heard that breakfast is the most important meal of the
day. But scientific support for that idea has been surprisingly meager,
and a spate of new research at several different universities —
published in multiple articles in the August issue of The American
Journal of Clinical Nutrition — could change the way we think about
early-hours eating.

Eating an apple a day improves women's sex lives, study shows - Telegraph

Eating an apple a day improves women's sex lives, study shows - Telegraph

It’s long been said that an apple a day keeps the doctor away. But now the
fruit has been shown to be an aphrodisiac after researchers found eating one
apple a day can improve the sex lives of women.

Scientists discovered regular daily apple consumption can boost sexual
pleasure in healthy women.

They believe the reason for this may lie in the compound phloridzin, which is
found in apples and is similar to the female sex hormone estradiol.

Salutations to Mr Bloomberg's Obesity Campaign

After reading Mayor Michel Bloomberg's campaign highlights. I am happy that Americans are waking up against obesity. More than 60% of US citizens are effected by this problem.
Mr. Bloomberg tried to ban the sugar containing servings which have more than 16 ounces sugar in hotels and restaurants but in vain because of the new decision made by Supreme Court Judge.
Although Mr. Bloomberg has enrolled an appeal against the decision but it has stopped the limits on sugary drinks.
I hope Mr. Bloomberg's campaign and advertising against sugary drinks' lethal effect, which causes obesity, diabetes and heart disease might have opened the eyes of people and they start controlling themselves and may abstain from heavy sugar intakes.
The Gov. officials have planned to implement taxes on sugary items like they did to cigarettes which worked and people started abstaining from smoking. I hope this will also work.
Actually we all are putting ourselves to death by our own hands. Mostly people die because of their own errors. We don't want to abstain from tastes and enjoyments. That leads to death. There is no doubt every one has to die but when we don't care than we are heading towards early death.
I appreciate these eye opening campaigns against obesity and sugary drinks by Us officials and one day they will overcome on this problem.
Full articles could be read using the links below which contain those campaign highlights and also decisions and appeals.

Soda Tax Weighed to Pay for Health Care - WSJ

Soda Tax Weighed to Pay for Health Care - WSJ

First few lines from original wall street journal article.
Senate leaders are considering new federal
taxes on soda and other sugary drinks to help pay for an overhaul of the
nation's health-care system.
The taxes
would pay for only a fraction of the cost to expand health-insurance
coverage to all Americans and would face strong opposition from the
beverage industry. They also could spark a backlash from consumers who
would have to pay several cents more for a soft drink. Read more...
